What we collect

Membership applications

When you apply for membership we ask for your name, job title, institution or agency, mailing address, phone number, email address, membership type and years in financial aid. We use this to process your application, keep the membership directory and contact you about SUNYFAP business.

Job posting requests

When you ask us to post a vacancy we ask for your name, email address, the job title, a link to the application and the dates the posting should run. We use this to publish the posting and to reach you if we have a question about it.

Visitor statistics

If you choose Accept on the cookie banner, Google Analytics records which pages are visited, roughly where visitors are located and what kind of device they use. If you choose Decline, or make no choice, Google Analytics does not load. See our Cookie Policy for details.

How form information is handled

Form submissions are sent by email to the SUNYFAP officers who handle membership and job postings, and a copy is sent to the address you entered. Submissions are not kept in the website's database.

Membership dues can be paid through PayPal or by mail. Online payments are made on PayPal's own website. SUNYFAP does not see or store your card or bank details.

Who else is involved

  • Google Analytics, for visitor statistics, only after you accept.
  • Cloudflare Turnstile, which checks that form submissions come from a person.
  • PayPal, if you choose to pay dues online.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with anyone else unless the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Membership information is kept while you are a member and for as long afterward as SUNYFAP needs it for its records. Job posting requests are kept until the posting has ended.

Your choices

You can ask to see, correct or delete the information SUNYFAP holds about you by writing to sunyfap@sunyfap.org. You can change your analytics choice at any time by clearing this site's data in your browser, which brings the cookie banner back.

Children

This site is written for financial aid professionals and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date at the top.
